Douglas Geoffrey McGrath

Douglas Geoffrey McGrath (b. 1958) is a director, screenwriter and actor American born in 1958. Candidate for the Oscar in the category of an Academy Award for best original screenplay, along with Woody Allen by Bullets Over Broadway (1994).

Biography

Douglas McGrath is the son of Beatrice and r. Searle McGrath, a producer of oil in Midland, Texas. It is married to Jane Read Martin since 1995 until today, they have three children together.

Career

Douglas McGrath has directed and written numerous films which include Bullets Over Broadway (1994) which was nominated for the Oscar in the category of an Academy Award for best original screenplay, being the film better appreciated by critics throughout his career to date. After this success came Emma (1996), based on the novel by Jane Austen and starring Gwyneth Paltrow. He also wrote the libretto for Born Yesterday (1993), starring Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, the film was not well received by critics and even received a nomination for the Razzie.

In the 2000s directed and wrote critically-acclaimed movies, but did not work at the box office. Such noteworthy films as Nicholas Nickleby (2002), starring Nathan Lane and Anne Hathaway, Jim Broadbent, Infamous (2006), based on the process of creating carried out Truman Capote writing A blood cold, starring Toby Jones, Daniel Craig, Sandra Bullock, and again, Gwyneth Paltrow in a cameo who performed as a favor to director since it has a good relationship with the actress from their participation in Emma.

It has participated as an actor, brief roles in such films as Hollywood Ending (2002), Company Man (2000), The Insider (1999), or Celebrity (1998).
