Alexandre Rockwell (August 18, 1956) is a director, producer and screenwriter, born in Boston, Massachusetts. In the Soup (1992) and Four Rooms (1995) are two of his most renowned works as a director.

His latest film entitled Pete Smalls Is Dead (2010) and starring Peter Dinklage and Mark Boone Junior.

Biography

Rockwell is the Russian animator Alexandre Alexeïeff, inventor of the needles screen animation ñieto. His grandmother was artist and actress of theater in Paris. His father was also an actor and filmmaker. His mother, Svetlana Alexeïeff Rockwell, a painter, is originally from Paris, France and emigrated to the United States. UU. where he married the father of Alexandre. Alexandre Rockwell grew up in Cambridge MA and moved to New York City at the age of twenty. During his early director John Cassavetes responded to one of Rockwell’s letters saying: “If you were not doing this, probably would be robbing banks”.

In 1986 he married actress Jennifer Beals, with whom he remained until 1996. Was Beals who introduced him to Sam Rockwell, actor who later worked on four of their films; in spite of the surname, have nothing to do. Other figures of independent film as Steve Buscemi, Peter Dinklage, Elizabeth Bracco appear frequently in his films.[ 3 ] In February of the year 2003 he remarried, this time with actress Karyn Parsons. They had two sons: Lana (b. 2003) and Nico (b. 2007).

In 1992, he won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival for his film in the Soup, defeating Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs.[ 4 ] This was the second film from Rockwell, Steve Buscemi playing a writer in a desperate attempt gets involved with a veteran gangster (Seymour Cassel) to carry his screenplay to the cinema. That year at Sundance defeated movies Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez and Allison Anders, the same three directors to undertake Four Rooms a few years later.

Currently, Rockwell taught management at the University of New York.
