Chris Carter (born 13 October 1956) is a producer and screenwriter American, known as the creator of the successful television series about Paranormal phenomena The x-files.

Chris Carter, son of William and Catherine Carter, born in Bellflower, California. Studied journalism at the State University of California (California State University) and graduated in 1979.

As a teenager, was a follower of the program Kolchak: The Night Stalker, starring Darren McGavin in the role of an unfortunate journalist who was witness of paranormal experiences. The series lasted only twenty chapters, but would leave a significant mark on Carter.

The production of the X-files series in 1993, Chris Carter created his own production company, Ten Thirteen Productions. With the success of The x-files grow without stopping, in 1996 the company embarked on a new project; Millennium. This series was cancelled after three seasons. In 1998 the company launched a film of The x-files called The x-files: Fight the Future. In 1999, as me had been cut, a third series was produced: Harsh Realm, which only lasted nine episodes before being cancelled. In 2001, decided to create a spin-off of The x-files and the result was The Lone Gunmen. This series was cancelled after a single season. When it was decided that The x-files finished in 2002 (after nine full seasons) the company decided to dissolve instead of continuing.
