Homer Cárpena was an actor and film director Argentine who was born in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires province, Argentina, on February 14 of 1910 and died in the city, on 17 January 2001 after a long artistic career. His father, Francisco Cárpena was actor and worked for a long time with Podestá brothers making circus.
Professional activity
Homer Cárpena moved to Buenos Aires moved by his theatrical vocation and worked with Enrique muiño in boys before did not use hair gel and the invested part González Castillo Enrique Rosas. In 1928 he formed own company which he represented the Bank Juancito, Alberto vaccarezza sainete and later company of Universal theatre were recognized as Angel Magaña, Francisco petrone, Paulina singerman, Luisa vehil, Irma Córdoba and Eva Franco, among other actors and actresses. Among others, he directed the popular Juanita by Enrique cadícamo in 1965 and the key, Noel coward, in 1972.
He debuted in film in the film the three berretines in 1933, was the second film soundtrack of the Argentina and was first figure by Luis sandrini. In 1935 was the soul of the bandoneon, ptotagonizada by Libertad lamarque and in 1937 the leak with Tita merello. Other remembered performances were prisoners of the Earth, directed by Mario soffici and Madame sans-Gene, starring Marshall niní, as well as several films Sandrini: hippie Professor, Patagonian Professor and Professor tirabombas in the 1970s.
Cárpena composed Tango lyrics the sky in the hands, the way gray, Trenzas eight and what far from Buenos Aires. In 1995 and 1999 he was director of the Theatre House in Buenos Aires, and conducted intensive campaigns to raise funds to carry out the purpose of helping the elderly actors and without resources. A demonstration of her enterprising character was the pilot program for television that armed now with 87 years with her daughter Claudia, and three of her grandchildren to bail out the one-act.
He died on January 17, 2001 in the Mar del Plata home as a result of heart failure.
