Mabrouk the Mechri (born 18 September 1976 (34 years) in Versailles, France) is a director, screenwriter and actor French of Algerian origin. He is married to actress Audrey Dana. He has directed several films. Of the three shorts Mounir et Anita, generation cutter and Concours circonstance, directed his first feature film Virgil in 2005 about the life of a boxer. Then would come a so-called comedy Stand Up!. His 2008 film JCVD on Jean-Claude Van Damme has earned critical favor. The film, a mix between drama, comedy and Biography about the life of Van Damme was screened in Cannes Film Festival, Rome Film Festival 2008 Edition and the same year’s Toronto International Film Festival. Currently working on his film Sage femme (2008) with vanessa paradis.
