Matthew Paige Damon (October 8, 1970) is an actor and screenwriter American. Winner of an Academy Award for best original screenplay by Good Will Hunting and nominated for best actor for the same work
Biography
Early years
Matt Damon was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the son of Kent Telfer Damon, real estate agent and former runner bag and Nancy Carlsson-Paige, child teacher and Professor at Lesley University.
He studied at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in his hometown, where he became friends with a neighbor and pupil of this school, Ben Affleck, who shared the same desire to become a film actor. Finally together staged and wrote the screenplay for the film Good Will Hunting which won an Academy Award to the to the best original screenplay. He graduated in 1988 and began studying at the University of Harvard, but did not finish because it began with his first works.
Career
His first film work was in 1988, in the romantic comedy Mystic Pizza and took odd jobs in other movies as School Ties, alongside Brendan Fraser and Chris O’Donnell; Geronimo: An American Legend, along with Gene Hackman and Jason Patric or Courage under fire alongside Denzel Washington and Meg Ryan.
Greater success came you in 1997 with his own script and their interpretation in Good Will Hunting where he worked with Ben Affleck and Robin Williams and earned him an Academy Award as a screenwriter and her first nomination as an actor. The second came in 2010 for his role in Invictus.
From there rained it job and began to interpret various characters as killer Tom Ripley in The Talented Mr. Ripley by which he was nominated for a Golden Globe as best actor “drama”; the Angel dropped dogma, which he again worked with Ben Affleck; Siamese brother pasted you where shared body with Greg Kinnear; Gerry, where he played the character who gave name to this experimental film directed by Gus Van Sant; a player of golf in the legend of Bagger Vance, in which she co-starred with Will Smith or adventurous cow-boy of All the Pretty Horses where he shared the poster with Penelope Cruz and zenry Thomas.
In 2001 would participate in the first film ocean’s, directed by Steven Soderberg alongside other stars of Hollywood as Brad Pitt and George Clooney. In Ocean’s eleven and Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen interpreted Linus Caldwell, one of the members of the gang of thieves. But without doubt his most successful trilogy is Bourne, which gives life to the protagonist, Jason Bourne, an amnesiac agent CIA that seeks to know their identity. In 2002 revolved The Bourne Identity that would be followed by The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, thanks to which has managed to be most profitable film actors.
Later works have been as varied as the Syriana; energy analyst one of the Brothers Grimm in the film, Terry Gilliam; Colin Sullivan, the corrupt police of The departed, winner of the Oscar for best picture and where he worked with Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Wahlberg, among others; or Edward Wilson, the agent of the CIA in the good Shepherd, directed by Robert De Niro. He has worked with directors such as:
• Gus Van Sant on Good Will Hunting and discovering at Forrester.
• Steven Spielberg in Saving Private Ryan.
• Francis Ford Coppola in The Rainmaker.
• Martin Scorsese in infiltrates.
• Robert De Niro in the good Shepherd.
• Clint Eastwood in Invictus.
Private life
His success in Hollywood as an actor earned him also that on July 25, 2007 the 2.343 number to receive a star on the Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. A new success came with their choice by People as the man American magazine 2007, sexiest apart from by physicist, for his sense of humor, a humility that arrives to the soul. With his wife Luciana, has three daughters: Isabella Damon (born 11 June 2006), Gia Zavala Damon (born 20 August 2008), and Stella Zavala Damon (born 20 October 2010), which is joined by Alexia, daughter of a previous relationship of Luciana Argentina.
September 10, 2008, in an interview with the AP Agency, stated its concern on the candidate for Vice-President of the Republican party for the Presidency of United States, the Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin by his little experience in international politics and fear of ultra-conservative educational reforms. The Republican party reacted with a release debunking actor having no political experience and qualifying it as “of celebrity”. Instead the Democrat fans applauded statements by Damon.
