Román Vinoly Barreto (n 8 August 1914, Buenos Aires, Uruguay – 20 August 1970 Buenos Aires) was a film director Uruguayan – Argentinean.

Born in Montevideo, Barreto directed 30 films between 1947 and 1966, such as El Abuelo (1954) where stars such as Enrique muiño and Mecha Ortiz played.

He was also a distinguished writer of Argentina.

Barreto died in 1970 in Buenos Aires. He is the father of architect Rafael Vinoly.
