Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, Ruth Prawer Prize or simply (7 may 1927, Cologne, Germany-) Ruth Prawer is a novelist and American of German origin film screenwriter.
Born of a family of Polish Jews emigrated to England together with relatives in 1939. Married with an architect Indium and moved to India, where he lived until 1975, then living in New York.
Many of his novels as Heat and Dust of 1975 and winner of a Prize Booker, are based on the India. Wrote scripts only for films such as Shakespeare Wallah 1965 and film adaptations of novels as 1984, The Bostonians A Room with a View 1985, Howards End of 1992, The Remains of the Day of 1993 and The Golden Bowl 2000.
