Antonio del Amo (Valdelaguna, Madrid, September 9, 1911 – † Madrid, June 19, 1991) was a director and screenwriter Spanish.

Biography

His first contacts with the seventh art were – in the 1930s – as a film critic at People’s Films and Our Cinema magazines. During the Spanish Civil War she made several documentaries propaganda in favour of the Republic.

After the finalzación of the conflict, was admitted to prison for his membership in the Communist Party of Spain. It would not undertake his artistic career until the mid-1940s.

The films he directed include the first most other eight of the thirteen films by the child prodigy Joselito, the first forays on the big screen both singer Antonio Molina copla coplas fisherman (1952) and Raphael, in the twins (1963).

Lectured also at the official film school and wrote, among other books, world cinema history (1945), the cinema as a language (1948) and aesthetics of editing (1972).

He died in a car accident.
