Carlos Hugo christensen was a prominent screenwriter and film director born 1914 in Santiago del Estero, Argentina 15 December and died on November 30, 1999 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where it was settled since the 50s. He had made numerous films in Argentina, Chile, Peru and Venezuela and Brazil and was still in full activity in that country.

The early years

It had dinamarqueses parent on the paternal side and Argentines on the maternal side. He began a relationship with the cinema that would follow until his death when at the age of twelve his father gave him a small projector with a single, short film he exhibited repeatedly both itself and his friends. Then moved to Buenos Aires with his family, he attended the secondary school national Belgrano and joined the Faculty of philosophy and literature. At age 16 he organized and directed a film of Lomas de Zamora, a musical spectacle with its former primary school, and later began to write in verse and in prose. Then some small books and several articles he published in the magazine Home and under the leadership of the playwright Samuel eichelbaum practiced film criticism in a publication.

Active in cinema

Working in the radio met Guerrico Caesar, who was in charge of studies Lumiton, and through it entered the production company and began an apprenticeship as an Assistant in contact with the first figures of that time show with on this passion, interest and intuition that never left. In 1939 he directed his first film, filling ship that was not displayed. The following English of the güesos, Arturo García buhr and Anita Jordan was in 1940 and critical praise and enthusiasm of the public. From there he began a career that indeed by the most diverse genres, including the adaptation of literary classics, comedy about the misadventures of matrimonial, melodramas with erotic charge and excellent police themes. While their first titles alternating apicarado with the conventional, later strong dramatic claw Christensen was highlighted in Sappho, a passion story (1943); Naked Angel (1946), in which showed a sensual Olga zubarry; Octopuses (1947), or Green havens (1947). He stood with death walks in the rain (1948), the trap, not never opening that door and If I die of waking police gender.

During the 50s he decided to pursue his career outside of the country and turned to Mexico but on the way because of filming in Chile and Venezuela moved to Brazil, where he continued working and residing. Also in Brazil love for Três remake of Mrs Pérez divorces and mathematical Zero, love Dez, filmed in 1958 Pérez’s small Lady remake.

November 30, 1999 died as a result of a heart attack at his home in Rio de Janeiro, left without completing the film “The sugar house” based on a story by Silvina ocampo was directing. Since 1947, he was married to Argentine actress Susana freyre and grandfather of actress Paula Christensen.
