But certainly his most important contribution to cinema lies in productions made for films of Carlos saura, Victor Erice, Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón and Julio médem. Along with the Aragonese director, he created a cinema which analyzed the Spanish society of Francoism, still not recovered from injuries caused by a repressive moral situation with intellectual rigour with regard to the first. With a cryptic style, these films charged political and social situation and evade the censorship of the time mechanisms. Thus appear as milestones of the cinema of Saura and Querejeta hunting (1965), which won the award for Best Director at the Berlin International Film Festival; Peppermint frappé (1967), awarded the Silver bear at the festival; Stress is three, three (1968), together with the burrow (1969) and the garden of delight (1970), made a general overview of the problems of couple at the time.

Anna and the wolves (1972), Prima Angélica (1973) and breeds crows (1975), these last two awarded the jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival, could be considered a dissection of the family in the ardofranquismo Spain. Elisa, my life (1977), perhaps the most ambitious film in his incisive reflection on the limits of the enunciation of the Narrator voice in cinema. Blindfolded (1978), Mama turns 100 years (1979), Deprisa, deprisa (1980), Golden bear in Berlin and sweet hours (1981) Festival was his collaboration with Saura.

He also produced one of the masterpieces of Spanish film, the work of Víctor Erice the spirit of the Beehive, film premiered at the San Sebastian International Film Festival in 1973 with the Concha de Oro for best film.
