George Marshall (29 December 1891 – 17 February 1975) was a prolific actor, screenwriter, producer and film and television director of American nationality with a career that spanned a total of six decades.

Biography

Born in Chicago, Illinois, currently few Marshall films are known for the public, except perhaps Destry Rides Again, The Sheepman, and the conquest of the West. Marshall co-directed the last films alongside John Ford, Henry Hathaway and Richard Thorpe, commissioning of the railroad, in which there is a famous Stampede sequence segment.

Although Marshall worked on almost all imaginable films, his career started at the time of the silent film making productions western, a genre that he never completely abandoned. However, already advanced his career was particularly required for comedies. Thus, shot half a dozen movies with Bob Hope, Jerry Lewis, from working with W.C. Fields, Jackie Gleason, and Will Rogers.

George Marshall died in 1975 in Los Angeles, California, of pneumonia. He was buried in the Holy Cross cemetery in Culver City, California.

For his contribution to the film industry, George Marshall was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Hollywood Boulevard 7048.
