James Gray (New York, 1969) is a Russian ancestry film director and screenwriter.
He studied at the School of Cinematic Arts University of Southern California where as academic work, made a film titled Cowboys and Angels that caught the attention of producer Paul Webster, who encouraged him to write a screenplay and promised to help in their production.
With 25 years, gray directed his first professional: Little Odessa (question of blood), a film Noir that tells the story of a murderer to salary and his relationship with his brother after returning to his hometown, Little Odessa, a neighborhood in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn). The film won the Silver Lion for Best
irector at the Venice Film Festival in 1994.
In 2000, Miramax Films distributed his second film, The Yards (the other face of crime), written and filmed in 1998.
His third film, We Own the Night was starring Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg, competed at the Cannes International Film Festival and received mixed reviews the accredited press.
His Two Lovers, film premiered in 2008] inspired by White Nights of Dostoevsky and starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Joaquin Phoenix.
