Tay Garnett (Los Angeles, California 13 June 1894 – 3 October 1977) was a director and screenwriter.

Biography

Born in Los Angeles, Garnett served as a naval pilot in the First world war but an accident on a flight led to give low in the army. In 1920, to begin to work as a screenwriter in 1920. There he worked on the orders of Mack Sennett, Hal Roach, Harold Vonscruttion or Frank Capra. At the end of the 1920s, it would sign by Pathe producer and debuted as a director in 1928 with the film Celebrity, a silent film starring Robert Armstrong and Lina Basquette. The following year married Patsy Ruth Miller, which divorced in 1933.

In the 1930s, became one of the most notable times Director. Tay Garnett, which would continue directing titles smaller until the early 1970s, died on 3 October 1977 victim of leukemia at the age of 83. Garnett has a star on the walk of Fame in Hollywood in the 6556 Hollywood Boulevard.
