Victor Ronald Salva (n. en Martinez, California, el 29 de marzo de 1958) es un director de cine estadounidense. Mayoritariamente dirige películas de terror como Powder o Jeepers Creepers.

Vida temprana y carrera

Salva nació en una familia católica tradicional, en Martínez (California). Su padre biológico abandonó la familia. Salva cuenta que el padrastro frecuentemente se emborrachaba y abusaba fisicamente de él.[2]

Uno de sus pasatiempos favoritos cuando era niño era ver Creature Features en televisión y películas como Tiburón. A la edad de 18 años, su madre y su padrastro le echaron por ser homosexual. Posteriormente, comenzó a hacer películas de bajo presupuesto.

En 1986, hizo una pelicula de terror de bajo presupuesto llamada Something in the Basement (Algo en el sótano), que atrajo la atención del cineasta Francis Ford Coppola, quien a su vez ayudó a Salva a financiar su primer largometraje, Clownhouse (1989), y muchas otras películas.[2]

At 29 years old, while heading Clownhouse Salva sexually abused one of their actors, Nathan Forrest Winters, who was 12 years old and filmed sexual relations. Salvo is delaró guilty on a charge of obscenity and lewd conduct an oral sex with a person under 14 years, and three counts of child pornography acquisition fee.[ 1 ] Salvo was sentenced to three years in prison. Turned 15 months of the sentence from being released on probation, [ 2 ] and was registered as a sex offender.

After having been released, Salva had a series of temporary jobs, while trying to be hired as a film director and lived financial support granted by Coppola.[ 2 ]

Seven years after Clownhouse, Salva made another film, The Nature of the Beast. In 1995, he directed the Powder film funded by Disney. Subsequently the media reported the criminal history of Salva and speculated sobre why Disney added to someone who was convicted of sexual crime, and ensured that Salva would not make another film until year 1999, Rites of Passage.

Salvo wrote and directed the film of terror Jeepers Creepers (2001) and its sequel Jeepers Creepers II (2003).

In 2006, Peaceful Warrior, directed  which opened with mixed reviews. Salvo has plans for Rosewood Lane in 2010, a thriller film starring Gina Philips Jeepers Creepers and Ray Wise, Star  and Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral, the third film in the popular franchise of Jeepers Creepers.

Personal life

Salvo is openly homosexual.  Currently resides in Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles, California.
